Tumblr for Your Business

Many brands already include Twitter for their Digital Marketing strategy but are sleeping on what may be the hottest opportunity in online Marketing. Are you using Tumblr for your business yet?

It’s fair to say that Twitter has been a blessing in disguise for micro-blogging platforms. It came, it saw and it captured! While Twitter’s explosion is a recent phenomenon, micro-blogging has been around for several years. Tumblr was one of the first few micro-blogging tools when it launched in 2007 and was an instant hit with a large number of businesses raking up 75,000 users in virtually no time.

And then, Twitter happened. The rest as they say is history. Tumblr was left lurching in the shadow for several years but the good news is that it’s made a remarkable comeback this year. Being one of the early adopters of a Tumblr blog, I consider it as a valuable business tool. Here’s my take on how your business can make the most out of Tumblr and why you need more
Tumblr followers.

Easy-to-use Blogging Platform

A while back, I wrote a post about how to grow your website traffic with Article Marketing. Tumblr picks the best of both worlds from Twitter and WordPress; Even allowing custom tumblr themes, therefore it’s a mighty efficient and easy-to-use blogging platform that allows you to expand your message past 140 characters. With more than 4.5 billion unique posts each day, Tumblr is one of the most widely used blogging platforms and a popular destination for Tumblr Pictures, Tumblr Photography and Tumblr Quotes.

Simplicity

Like Twitter, Tumblr thrives on simplicity. It’s easy to setup and takes a few minutes to get up and running with the Tumblr dashboard.  Interact with the community and you’ll be building up a massive list of tumblr followers in no time.

The Tumblr directory presents a well organized view of blogs categorized based on business, technology etc.

Digital Marketing

Tumblr is a handy marketing tool for businesses and allows for a great deal of customization for brand awareness with tumblr themes. Your tumblr followers can simply re-blog your posts on their own Tumblr account which credits back to your business page, thereby increasing the overall number of page views on your blog.

Not a Twitter substitute!

I come across many businesses which believe that Tumblr has outlived its expectancy and Twitter is much better suited to their needs. Twitter is a pure micro-blogging platform while Tumblr offers the best of both worlds– blogging as well as micro-blogging.

Moreover, Tumblr doesn’t have the 140-char restriction and offers a number of relatively lesser-known bells and whistles for business users. In fact, it offers good integration with Twitter and Facebook, thereby offering a truly converging social media experience for your business.

Expand your social media presence

Not as glamorous as Twitter and Facebook, Tumblr followers can still help your business expand its social media footprint. Tumblr is a natural place for conversations and discussions courtesy the “re-blogging” feature, therefore it helps your business get extended coverage in the social media space.

Did i mention tumblr themes?

I cant stress enough the massive opportunity, for brand awareness, that is available to brands who make use of tumblr themes!

Tumblr isn’t dead.

Far from the deadpool, Tumblr ranks as the 25th most visited destination on the internet according to Alexa. It has tremendous potential from a business perspective and opens up your business to a new audience.
